How projects work

A short, written process, so you know what happens next, what it costs and how the work will be judged.

Four steps, from brief to review.

What happens at each step, and who does what.

  1. Step 1: Understand

Your store, offer, numbers and the obstacle in the way. It starts with your project brief, then questions by email or a call.

    You
Send the brief and answer a few questions.
    We
Read your store and data, and find the real obstacle.
  2. Step 2: Define

Priorities, deliverables, timing and price, written into a scope you approve. Nothing starts before that.

    You
Review the scope, ask for changes, then approve it.
    We
Write the scope, the measures and the quote.
  3. Step 3: Build

We do the agreed work in your accounts, on unpublished themes and drafts first, through access you grant and can remove.

    You
Approve access requests and review previews.
    We
Build, implement and test the agreed work.
  4. Step 4: Verify and review

We check the work, show what changed and how it will be measured, and recommend what to improve next.

    You
Approve the release and read the review.
    We
Check, hand over and write down what comes next.

Two ways to work together.

Start with a defined project. Move to ongoing work when the foundations are in.

Scoped project

A defined piece of work with a start and an end: a store build, a set of email flows, SEO foundations, an ad account set-up or a growth audit.

  • Written scope, deliverables and price before work starts
  • Revision rounds set out in the scope
  • Handover notes, so your team can run what we built

Suits: A clear job, or a first project together.

Ongoing optimization

A monthly cycle once the foundations are in: ad management and creative tests, email campaigns, conversion tests or SEO content.

  • A plan for each cycle, agreed in advance
  • A written review of what changed and what's next
  • Terms and notice set out in writing before it starts

Suits: Stores with tracking and pages in place that want steady improvement.

Both are quoted after we understand the work. Our fees never include ad spend, apps, platform subscriptions or other third-party costs.

Scope, communication and revisions.

Set out in writing for every project, so both sides agree on what "done" means.

  • Scope

Each scope names the deliverables, the measures, the revision rounds and the price. If something new comes up, we agree a written change before doing it.

  • Communication

Each scope says how we will keep in touch and when we will review progress. Decisions and approvals are kept in writing.

  • Revisions

Revision rounds are set out in each scope, so both sides know what "done" means before work starts.

Access without passwords.

We work in your accounts through the access systems Shopify and the ad and email platforms provide. You approve every request.

  • Shopify: a collaborator request with only the permissions the work needs, approved by you
  • Ads: partner access to your Meta business portfolio and Google Ads account
  • Email: a user invite to your email platform
  • Search: a user on your Google Search Console property
  • Changes go to unpublished themes and drafts first, and go live only with your approval
  • You can remove our access at any time, and we ask you to at the end of a project

Costs at a glance.

Our fee and the costs you pay to others are always kept apart.

Paid to Maisonblock

  • Our fee for the scoped work, quoted before work starts
  • Any change to the scope, agreed and priced in writing before it is done

Paid by you to others

  • Ad spend, paid to Meta or Google
  • Your Shopify plan and any paid apps
  • Your email platform subscription
  • Paid tools, fonts, stock media and photography

Questions about working together.

What's the difference between a project and ongoing work?

A project has a defined scope and an end. Ongoing work is a monthly cycle of improvements once the foundations are in. We usually suggest a project first, so the foundations are right.

What access will you need?

Only what the work needs: a Shopify collaborator request you approve, partner access to ad accounts, a user invite for your email platform and access to Search Console. We never ask for passwords or payment details.

What costs are separate from your fee?

Ad spend, which you pay to the platforms. Also apps, your Shopify plan, your email platform, paid tools, photography and stock media. Each scope lists them.

What happens after I send an inquiry?

We read your brief and reply by email with questions or a suggested next step. If it's a fit, you get a written scope and quote, and work starts only when you approve it. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so.

Do you guarantee results?

No. Results depend on your products, prices, market and the platforms themselves. We agree objectives and measures up front, and report honestly against them.

Tell us what's in the way.

Send a short brief about your store. We'll reply by email with questions or a suggested next step.
